AI Image Prompts for Social Media Creatives (That Don’t Look Generic)

Prompt formulas for Instagram, LinkedIn, and ads — so AI images look on-brand instead of like every other “neon robot in a city” stock render.

Generic AI images kill trust. The fix is not “better luck” — it’s a prompt system with style locks and composition rules.

The 5-part prompt stack

  1. Subject — who/what is in frame
  2. Action / pose — what they’re doing
  3. Setting — place + lighting
  4. Style lock — brand look (flat vector, film still, soft product photo)
  5. Constraints — “no text, no watermark, square crop, clean background”

Example:

A young founder at a cafe table, laptop half-closed, soft morning window light, editorial photo, muted teal accents, shallow depth of field, no text, Instagram square

Style locks by platform

Platform Style lock Avoid Instagram Soft editorial, natural light Over-saturated neon cyberpunk LinkedIn Clean corporate photo, real office Cartoon / anime Ads Product-first, simple backdrop Busy scenes that hide the product

Prompt formulas you can reuse

Product hero

[product] on [surface], soft studio light, 45° angle, brand color accents, high detail, no text

Lifestyle creator

[person description] filming a Reel with phone, bright room, candid moment, photorealistic, no logos

Concept / metaphor

minimal flat illustration of [idea], 2 colors only, lots of negative space, modern SaaS aesthetic

Brand kit for AI images

Save a one-line brand kit and paste it into every prompt:

  • Primary color hex
  • Mood words (calm / bold / playful)
  • Forbidden styles
  • Aspect ratio defaults (1:1, 4:5, 16:9)

QA before you post

  • Faces look natural (no melted hands/eyes)
  • No accidental text gibberish
  • Subject has room for caption overlays if needed
  • Matches your real brand photos closely enough

Workflow

  1. Generate 4 variants with the same style lock
  2. Pick 1 winner
  3. Compress for web
  4. Write the caption / hook after the visual is locked

Frequently asked questions

Why do my AI images all look the same?

You’re recycling the same vague style words (“cinematic, ultra detailed”). Lock a narrower style and change only subject + setting.

Can I use AI images commercially?

Check your generator’s terms. For most marketing use, you own the output — but never claim a fake photo of a real person as documentary truth.
